Booking Through Thursday – TBR

Posted in entertainment, online life on July 16th, 2009 by admin – 7 Comments

Follow-up to last week’s question:

Do you keep all your unread books together, like books in a waiting room? Or are they scattered throughout your shelves, mingling like party-goers waiting for the host to come along?

Here’s my last week’s list of unread books.

As for my answer, no I don’t put them in one place. In fact, all my books are scattered all over the house. I want to be able to have something to read available wherever I am. This applies to new, rare and second-hand ones. However, to verify if one book is part of the “unread” gang, one just have to look closely to see that it’s almost always gathering dust.

Before you judge me, I do take good care of my books and they get dusted every week. :)

Go, Have a Slice of Cake or Two.

Too much fat burner will do this to you.

Beyonce / Elisha Cuthbert

Kidding, of course. If you eat like a horse (or ahem, like me), a fat burner could only do so much.

These photos were photoshopped (duh!) but still, have you seen the stars from 90210? They need some serious eating to do. I’ve been known to obsess about my weight from time to time but I think I’m still way inside the healthy line of dieting. Which if you translate will mean no cakes if you eat ice cream. Okay a small slice is okay if the ice cream flavor was anything but chocolate. On the other hand, you can have chocolates as long as it’s dark, not white. Or you can eat as many plates of pasta as you like and you won’t gain weight at all. I could go on and on but I’m afraid you might try my diet.

80′s rule!

Although I have to say I’m not exactly old enough to have enjoyed the 80′s, it won’t stop me from enjoying music from that era.

I’d probably write a hundred songs but since this is Ten on Tuesday, here’s my top 10 songs from the *0′s.

With or Without You – U2

I Melt With You – Modern English

Every Breath You Take – The Police

Eternal Flame – Bangles (Oh God, high school prom!)

When I See You Smile – Bad English

Patience – Guns N’ Roses

Don’t You Forget About Me – Simple Minds

I’ll Be Over You – Toto

Regret – New Order

Every Rose Has It’s Thorn – Poison

Booking Through Thursday: Unread

Posted in entertainment on July 9th, 2009 by admin – 11 Comments

“So here today I present to you an Unread Books Challenge. Give me the list or take a picture of all the books you have stacked on your bedside table, hidden under the bed or standing in your shelf – the books you have not read, but keep meaning to. The books that begin to weigh on your mind. The books that make you cover your ears in conversation and say, ‘No! Don’t give me another book to read! I can’t finish the ones I have!’ “

Great topic this week. Here’s my list:

The God of Small Things – Arundhati Roy
One Hundred Years of Solitude – Gabriel Marquez
Lady Chatterley’s Lover – DH Lawrence
Crime and Punishment – Fyodor Dostoevsky

Both by Nick Bantock:
The Venetian Wife
Forgetting Room

They are unread because I am actually saving them. I want to read them when I have a whole day free with nothing to do but read so I can give them my undivided attention.

Fun Coffee Designs

Posted in art, food on July 9th, 2009 by admin – 3 Comments

With all the junk and sweets that I’ve been eating lately, it will be no surprise when I start shopping for Solo Slim online. But I will restrain myself. Instead of feasting on mango bravo/chocolate turtle pie/choco walnut cake/triple choco mousse(see, the names alone will make you want to eat), I’ll hit the treadmill OR better yet (exercise is always my last resort), I’ll just drink coffee and nothing else.

Okay so I may not be proposing the healthiest way to eat here so please ignore me. Do enjoy these beautifully designed coffee though. Reminds me so much of Coffee Prince days.

Art on Mats

I’ve been meaning to buy these nice contemporary rugs for our living room. Ever since I saw them online, all I can think about are white bookshelves, white sofa set, and white workstation. I wonder if they do this in car mats as well? Not that anyone would see but it would be a nice touch. Anyway, take a look at them yourself and let me know what you think.
