Just got off the phone with a client. I need to design about ten photo cards and then find a printing company that can print up to 1000pcs for each design and have it delivered in two days. Not so bad if only the two-day schedule didn’t include the conceptualization. I know I’m awesome but I’m not a miracle worker. Good thing he said try because I am 100% positive that what he wants is impossible. The shipping time alone would take 2 business days based on the printing companies I’ve worked with so far.
I was browsing the Internet for bariatric surgery for an article that I’m working on when I saw this really cool site. Well, it’s cool in such a way that it gives the visitor a pleasant user experience. Unlike other web sites that are filled with so much text it will only take you 3-5 seconds before you want to leave the site.
Anyway, it’s cool that I found this because I’m running out of inspirations for health-related designs lately. At least now I know I can still design out of the box yet still be taken seriously.
We have so many life insurance leads
that I don’t know what to do with them anymore. I only mentioned in passing that I
want to upgrade my current package and all of a sudden, my mailbox is filled with
different offers from various companies. I love how convenient technology is but sometimes, I’d rather talk to someone in person and discuss my needs. Perhaps I should give our old agent a call and ask if I can upgrade without purchasing a new plan.
We need to attend a party next week and I’m thinking of dressing my husband and daughter with white overalls, similar to protective clothing in warehouses. The theme is airplane/airlines so guests need to come as flight attendants, pilots of airline crews. I hope I can find a small version for my daughter though. I don’t want her to go as a stewardess that’s for sure! All these themed parties is making me want to plan for her 7th birthday already. But it would be overdoing it as I still have three yrs before I can go into full planning mode.
Need to get some poster printing done before the party this week. The problem is that my client is so fickle-minded that he might have more changes 5 minutes before I’m out of the door. I’ll just have to tell him to send me all modifications if he wants to meet his own deadline. I know he’s supposed to use the poster for the workshop he’s hosting this weekend so maybe I can give him a little push to keep him going. I honestly don’t want to be contacted on my cellphone or feel guilty that someone needs me when I’m having so much fun at the parties.

As we return to school and work and the holiday hustle settles, is there something that you look forward to doing again?
I would love to go out of town with the family. We just got back from our HK trip but you could look at it as a vacation from our vacation. HK was pretty tiring after all and we need to recover badly
What do you find most stressful about the holidays?
Visiting lots of relatives, planning too many parties and buying gifts for people I don’t even like. Plus there’s that extra weight that comes with the holidays that after all the drinking and eating, all you can think about are diet pills that work quick.
And how do you deal with that stress?
What else but through shopping of course! It’s the perfect stress-reliever to every women’s woes.
Finding jobs in the midst of economic crisis is not as hard as you think. You just need to evaluate your skills and expected salary to see if you can lower it and still live comfortably. After all, having a job with a salary less than what you’re used to is way better than not having any income at all. Still, most companies will still meet your needs if your skills are unusual. Let’s say you are part of the 10% of professionals who can program a certain language, then your odds are high that you’ll get a job immediately. Whereas if you’re sharing the spot with thousands of employees who can do the same thing yet willing to accept salary lower than yours, then it’s time to re-assess your career plans.
