Wedding Stuff

Posted in home, websites on March 28th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

I love looking at wedding web sites. Everything is just so white and clean no matter what color I’m looking at. I enjoy browsing through them that wedding web sites are one of the categories that I like to design. Along with parenting / baby online shops, computer / gadgets and fashion.

But back to weddings, when my friend asked me to help her source for wedding accessories, I immediately agreed. I can’t think of anything better to do in my free time than look at nice little tiaras, fabulous bride jewelries and lovely shoes and purses to complete the look of the “blushing” bride.

Work, Diet and Money

Happy to announce that I just snagged a very nice-paying gig for a website re-design. I guess all my lucky charms from last Chinese New Year are working! My goals, money-wise are almost within reach so I’m very satisfied.

Wish I could say the same for my husband, though. He’s now close to trying a weight loss product that we saw on TV after his failed attempt at dieting and exercise. I told him to give the treadmill one more shot and if he’s still too tired to run, then he can try anything as long as he has spent a lot of time researching about it.

Now if I could just force myself to be creative and get started with a few mockups.

Costume play or “Cosplay” is a type of performance art wherein the participants wear costumes and accessories to represent a specific character which is often drawn from popular fiction in Japan. Artists everywhere delights in the creativeness of the model in portraying their selected character. With several creative props and costumes, a stunning character is made into being…

There are plenty but let me just post here my favorites. I love anime, manga but Cosplay usually makes me laugh. However, these photographs were so good that it seems I could hear the theme song being played in the background.

At Home

Posted in home, online life, work on March 21st, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

I heard my neighbor discussing about septic tank cleaner with her friend via phone and all I can think about is how suburban and domesticated I’ve become. Mind you, I still have a helper to cook and clean the house but gone are the days when conversations range from music, art, foreign films and travel. Lately, it has been renovating, lot hunting, recipes, baby-proofing and finding the right preschool. I am not complaining however. Life just gets better each day and I’m glad that I’m earning enough money without leaving the house. Thank God for those who made telecommuting a trend.

New Desktop

Posted in computers on March 20th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

We were at the mall last weekend when we save these amazing 0% interest promos for desktop computers. The timing was perfect because I’ve been planning to buy a second machine to give my DELL Studio 1735 a rest. The monthly rates are really good if you don’t have a machine to compare it to. However, the processors, hard disk space and memory are close it not the same to my Studio laptop. So there’s really no point in upgrading, after some careful thinking. There are more desktops to choose from that I would love to get my hands on except the monthly isn’t as light anymore. I’d probably need to sacrifice one of my monthly pleasures such as 2 hour-massages or eating out at nice restaurants just to afford it. I could in 3 or 4 months but a whole year will be overdoing it. I guess I’ll just get one when I have enough money to pay in full.

Lose to Win

My husband and I made a deal. If he lose 20 lbs in one year, I will get him anything that he want within a reasonable price and reason. As for his list ,see below:

He said he wanted stainless steel drums and a last week but not he prefers a new…. I’m all fine with both but only if we can get to move to our own place next year. He really needs his own room for all his musical instruments.

A very colorful and not so big tattoo on his forearm. I used to say no whenever he brings up the subject of getting inked but if it would mean him losing all his extra weight, I’d be more than happy to oblige.

A telephoto lens. I could definitely save up and buy this myself or give him the go ahead to buy one. Upgrade to SUV. Now this is way more expensive than the other three but it will benefit the whole family so I’m game if budget allows.

Before and After Photos

I love extra cash as much as the next guy. But if there’s one thing that I’d rather not do, it’s optimizing before and after photos for cosmetic web sites. The blackhead treatment photos are not so bad but if they are not zoomed in. But dental cosmetics are on a whole new different level. I’m not overreacting but there’s this one project when I did nothing but re-size the images and I didn’t have much appetite afterwards. What more if I have to edit them as well, which would require me to zoom in until the reddish gums, broken teeth are too big for me to think of anything at all. The after photos are fine and I love how the dentists really make a difference with their smiles. I’m thinking looking at the close up photos would be fine as long as I can get a new smile as a payment.

On Home Businesses

Posted in home, money on March 11th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

Everyone wants to be their own boss. But finding the most successful home based business isn’t that easy. For one, you need to be very good at what you do in order to succeed. You can’t just pick from a list of “great business ideas” because not every idea works the same. Why start with a web design company when you have zero clue to the process? You can try but the odds that you will be successful is higher if you understand the most technical aspect of your business.

Lastly, and this should be a given, you must be happy with what you do. When you’re happy, you work better, you reach above and beyond of what you can do and you are more inspired. Quality work or product always attracts clients so you can be sure that money will follow.

Posted in online life on March 8th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

I was going to write about herbal eczema treatment but then I stumbled upon this meme on a friend’s blog. Disney films are just my favorite so I had to join. It took me more than 30 minutes to answer this! It was hard because there are many good films, characters and song to choose from.

Sunday Stealing: Harriet’s Choice: The Disney Meme

1. Which non-Disney Princess Disney Film is your favorite?
Is this limited to animation? If not then – Monsters Inc., A Bug’s life, Cool Runnings, High School Musical, Peter Pan, The Kid, Parent Trap, Mighty Ducks

2. Which Disney film makes you cry the most?
Can’t think of anything right now aside from Finding Nemo. They all make me teary eyed one way or another.

3. Which Disney film makes you the happiest?
I just love Alladin! I think Robin Williams and the animators did an amazing job with the genie’s dance performances and sketches.

4. Which Disney film has the best music?
I love Mulan’s, Little Mermaid’s and Alladin’s.

5. Which Disney film has the best love story?
Alladin. It still gives me goose bumps whenever I hear the song “A Whole New World”

Health and the Internet

Posted in health, technology on March 6th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

These days, you can get answer to about almost anything in the Internet. Need natural hemorrhoid treatment? Google it and you’ll see tons of blog posts, health articles and online shops that are guaranteed to make you dizzy with options. What I suggest is go for review sites that compare products side by side or trusted web sites with testimonials from real people. It’s hard to recognize which ones are genuine but with thorough research, you’ll be able to separate the bogus stuff from the real deal.

So don’t you just love the Internet? Just be cautious when looking for health related articles. Most articles can scare you to death so it’s always best to check with a medical professional if ever you want to try a treatment or alternative approach to whatever’s ailing you.

Need for Speed Jackets

Posted in what's up on March 5th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

Here’s something my brother would love – Nascar jackets. For the longest time, he has been asking me to shop for him online. At first he wanted the one that Wolverine wore but seeing how expensive it was, he decided to go for race car jackets instead. To be honest, these jackets seem loud to me if you’re not going to wear it on a race track. So I recommended this to him. Jeff Gordon / Du Pont Adult Twill jacket under $98 each.

Pretty cool huh? Black on black so you won’t catch too much attention when you’re on the road.
