Quick Beauty Fix for Your Home

My husband and I was watching a home makeover show when we saw this really cool eagle weathervane. At first, I didn’t know that it has a purpose but according to my husband who loves all kinds of trivia, I learned that it was used in the earlier times as a tool for indicating wind direction. When designing a weather vane, the ornament must have unequal area on either side of center and must have equal mass on either side of the center. For someone who has no sense of direction such as yours truly, this could serve as a great resource for determining which direction a wind is coming from.

Anyway, my husband asked my opinion on getting a garden weathervane for my mother-in-law’s birthday. Since she likes putting all kinds of ornaments in her garden, this might be a great addition to her beautiful flowers. We might get something in copper with antiqued finish or one in aluminum. I kind of like this painted monarch butterfly below while my husband prefers the cow over the moon.

Both our within our budget but now that I’ve taken a close look at the cow over the moon, I liked how old-fashioned it seems. It actually reminds me of those gardens we used to visit in the country. It’s a bit whimsical and makes you think of fairy tales. Not only my mother-in-law will fall for this but her granddaughters will love it as well.

Aside from using weathervanes, the guys from the home make-over show also used a wood cupola to add some accent to the owner’s house. A cupola, which is placed in the roof, is supposed to admit light and provide ventilation. But mostly, it’s being used to add architectural element to houses and buildings. With the combination of the weather vane, the remodeled house looked amazing. It’s really amazing what a few ornamental additions  can do. Which is why I’m not getting excited for our dream house next year. I already have a long list of things to get to make it look pretty and cozy.
