Shocking Art Pieces

Posted in art on June 28th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

Enough about human growth hormone for sale. Allow me to share something cool (once again) to everyone who visits my blog. I came across this post while looking for weird art collections and may I say they just fall right into that category. I love it! It’s edgy, unique and just totally mind-blowing. If your art can affect people as much as these can, then you’re on the right track.

Liz and Phil Down by the Lake by Greg Taylor

This Australian sculpture featured Elizabeth and Prince Philip sitting in the buff in front of the Canberra Parliament House. It lasted a mere week before an angry protester beheaded Queen Elizabeth. Further vandalism of the sculpture resulted in its removal.

Piss Christ by Andres Serrano

Serrano caused a scandal that was heavily debated on the floor of the United States Senate in 1989. The photograph of a tiny plastic crucifix in a cup of Serrano’s urine sparked much debate surrounding artistic freedom, but won a competition held by the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art.

Love and Redemption by Joel Peter-Witkin

Peter-Witkin’s highly graphic photography features the dismembered arm and head of a human corpse. This piece was created in Mexico, because its production would have been illegal in the United States.

Shark by David Cerny

This work was created as a parody of the equally controversial Damien Hirst piece entitled “The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living.” Cerny’s version depicts a nearly naked Saddam Hussein handcuffed and suspended in a tank of formeldehyde.

Still Huge But No Baby Yet

I’m huge as a hippo at 38 weeks. I wonder when is the safest time to take slimming pills when I give birth? I don’t think it will be possible though, what with me breastfeeding and all. My OB assured me I will lose at least 20 lbs in one week and at least 2lbs or more once I start breastfeeding. That is one great news since I don’t think I’ll have enough time to work, let alone exercise. With my firstborn, I did lose a lot of weight but that was because of my diet and her allergies. Now, all I have is hope that my OB’s words will come true. That or just accept that my pre-pregnancy clothes will never fit me anymore.

17 Again?

Everyone (well, almost) I know wants to try and buy human growth hormone because of the fact that it can make you lose weight. All I know about HGH is that there was a ban on HGH injections before as it can cause a lot of side effects. However, there are HGH supplements all over the world wide web now claiming that they are a safe way to build muscle and fight back aging. It is 100% steroid-free, legal and no prescription required. What’s making it popular is the fact that it can reduce excess body fat and reduce wrinkles. You know how vain women are (that includes me). We all love to try things as long as it can restore our youthful skin and take off excess pounds brought about by pregnancy or age. Still, the fact remains that if you must try one of these supplements, make sure you have done your research and read about any possible side effects.

iPhone Convert

I sooo love my iPhone 3Gs. I’ve always wondered what the big fuss was but now that I could see the difference in graphics quality, audio and performance, you could say I’m hooked. And did I mention the apps? There are just sooo much free apps out there that I spend most of my free hours now browsing and installing. My husband and I couldn’t help but make some ooh and ahh noises whenever we stumble upon a cool app with a kick-ass graphic.

And as if the coolness of iPhone 3Gs is not enough, Apple just have to come out with the new iPhone 4G.

Love Your Machine

image A friend was ranting over Twitter today on how her laptop dies every hour or so. She was so worried about the possibility of buying a new one that she couldn’t work any more. As soon as she told me how hot it is in her work area, I told her to get a notebook cooler immediately. There could be tons of reasons why laptops heat up from clogged laptop vents to improper placement to a broken laptop internal fan.

One thing I’ve proven however is that it could be as simple as very hot room temperature. Getting a laptop cooling pad is a necessity now especially if you live in humid areas. If you check the laptop accessories at LaptopStand.org, you’ll see tons of options depending on your budget and style. I’m particular in choosing a more expensive laptop cooler after doing some research on how it can really help your machine perform well. I also have personal experience in buying those generic, cheap coolers and all it did was create noise and gather dust without really improving the temperature of my laptop.

Sunday Stealing – Dark Side Meme Part 2

16. Tell me about your most recent trip of more than 100 miles?
The beach last May. We rented a private house with a pool and it was only a 5-minute walk to the beach. It was a perfect weekend that I dream of having a property there soon.

17. Which do you use more often, the dictionary or the thesaurus?
Dictionary. With a husband who writes for a living, I just feel conscious or perhaps a bit competitive when it comes to writing. I could never beat him though.

18. Do you have a nickname? What is it?
Can’t tell. You might use it to retrieve my passwords ;)

19. What are you dreading at the moment?
That I will give birth and no one will be around to drive me to the hospital.

20. Do you worry that others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Don’t care.

Excited

The baby is almost here! I think. I’ve been feeling stomach pains for days and know that time is near. This is why my husband and I are going crazy fixing our room, looking into more home ventilation options and buying last minute baby stuff. I hope she comes out just in time for my birthday not only because it would be a great gift but also because she has gotten so huge (already at 7lbs during last check up) that I’m worried if I’ll be able to give birth normally. Before that however, I need to make sure that all my deliverables, usernames/passwords have been turned over to the designers who will take over while I’m gone.

Near the Finish Line

I better start designing promotional products if I want to join tonight’s dinner with friends. This has been in the back burner for so long I wasn’t even sure if I can get to it before I give birth. On another note, I just finished wrapping up a huge project so I can now breathe easily and continue with the waiting game. The promo products are my last project so I’m feeling confident that I’m not going to leave any client or project hanging once I start my maternity leave. It’s a good thing that we have two other designers in the team now. I always feel like the company will fold without me (although it probably won’t) but with people I can pass work with, I’m sure we’ll all be fine!
