Throw an Engagement Party to Remember
They’ve become engaged! Whether it was a romantic proposal over wine and candlelight or a picnic in the mountains, the happy couple has decided to tie the knot. She’s received a ring designed by Scott Kay or another favored jeweler, and she’s showing it off to all her friends. He’s proud and happy and slapping his friends on the back.
What better way to celebrate your friends’ engagement that throwing them an unforgettable engagement party. With a few simple tips you can make sure the party is a success.
First, ask the couple. Make sure that another family member or friend has not already started planning a party. And keep the couple’s wishes in mind during the planning process. You’d don’t want to throw a formal dinner or cocktail party if they would prefer something more casual.
Keep your stress level to a minimum by keeping it simple. You want your guests to enjoy themselves and that won’t happen if you are running about needlessly. Another thing to consult the couple about is the guest list. You don’t want to make the mistake of inviting people to the engagement party that may not be invited to the wedding or miss inviting someone important.
Delegate help to other friends and family. Involve others with both the planning and the actual party duties and you’ll be sure both you and your guests are relaxed and having fun. This can be as simple as asking someone to help with making sure drinks and food are served and asking others to help clean up.
Be creative and add some special touches. This can be monogrammed napkins with the couple’s wedding day or decorations that fit the wedding couple perfectly. Decorate the party space with pictures of the happy couple and tell the engagement story or the story of how the couple met. Guests always love to share these moments.
