Kazakhstan President and US President Cooperation

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev had a meeting with United States President Barack Obama on April 11th 2010. The two leaders tackled concerns related to the Kazakh-American tactical partnership.

The leaders shared their concepts on global security – counting the stabilization and protection of Afghanistan – economic relationships and investment opportunities, democratic development, energy alliance, as well as Kazakhstan’s Chairmanship of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe).Nazarbayev and Obama eagerly took note of their joint strategy regarding major issues on a regional and worldwide scale.

The Kazakhstan President confirmed his support for Obama in his non-proliferation efforts like the Nuclear Security Summit, which was held on April 12th in Washington DC. He likewise reaffirmed his country’s advocacy to further intensifying its bilateral collaboration with the US in aiming for a better and more secure world.

Furthermore, the Kazakhstan president commended President Obama for the former’s commitment in convening the Nuclear Security Summit. Nazarbayev believes that the summit will help formulate a framework for the fight against nuclear terrorism.

According to Michael McFaul, the United States National Security Council Senior Director for Russian and Eurasian Affairs, Obama named President Nazarbayev as one of the ideal leaders of the world. The summit would not have been successful without Nazarbayev’s presence.
