Fake Abs with Photoshop

Posted in graphics and web design on February 5th, 2011 by admin – Be the first to comment

Do you need to impress your cyber girlfriend but have no time for an actual ab workout? Try this fun and (a bit sad) tutorial on Youtube on how to add a fake six pack abs in under 8 minutes. I don’t really recommend you deceiving what could be a future partner in life but this is a pretty cool trick to add to your graphics designing sleeve. Plenty of magazines do this to some of their shoots if you must know. ;)

Flash Websites – You Just Have to Love Them

My New Year’s (Design) resolution? Dabble more in flash websites. Although I still lack the sophistication and the actionscript skills and always hide behind the reason that flash websites don’t get crawled by Search Engines, I will always be a fan. While I keep myself busy studying flash (no doubt will take me years), see below my list of flash websites that can blow your mind.

Adding Character to Bottle Labels

Posted in computers, graphics and web design on January 9th, 2011 by admin – Be the first to comment

I am currently designing for bottle labels but I’m stuck on the actual dimensions. I tried printing them but when I placed them on my mother-in-law’s diet supplements for comparison, the text are just too big. My brother, who is a veteran graphics/print designer is taking too long to answer so I’ll just have to send the concept and wonder about the printing later. Speaking of labels, check out these cool label / packaging designs that I saw while looking for inspiration.

Pretty cool for a bottle, huh?

Out on a Limb

Someone had too much pre workout supplements. Amazing how creative directors fail to catch these before they go out into production. For other Photoshop disasters, check out the new URL at psdisasters.com. I just love browsing photos from this site. It makes me feel like I’m not the only one who’s not perfect out there. ;) Although some of the entries have mistakes that could result to someone losing a job, most of them are not too noticeable unless you know where to look.

E-Commerce WordPress Themes

Posted in graphics and web design, websites, work on December 9th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

A new project landed on my lap so I’m now shopping for a very nice e-Commerce WordPress theme. Luckily, there are so many talented designers and developers out there so I have tons of options to choose from. What’s good about these themesĀ  is that all the features that you need are already in place. You can use them as is or customize them, which is what I’m doing to do to fit my client’s design requirements.

All these are from Themeforest.net

It doesn’t matter what your going to sell. As long as you know your way around WordPress themes, you can create some very serious e-Commerce websites with these.

It’s Beginning to Feel

If you finished that title with “a lot like Christmas,” then you are correct. Christmas cards should be in the mail already according to some web sites that make the rules for those sorts of things. Although, I wonder how many people get Christmas cards on December 26th and think to themselves, “How dare she wait so long to send this to me!” I had bought some a few years ago, and ended up putting them away in a drawer and never sending them at all.

I found this website though where they will print out your cards and ship them to you the very next day. This means no running to the store at the last minute to buy a mismatched set of cards to hand out to friends and family. I can even have them print a family picture and Christmas message on postcards and send them out with cheaper postage than the cards in envelopes always take.

When Robots Attack

Posted in computers, graphics and web design on November 9th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

Seeing metal buildings all over London just gave me an idea for my current web site design project. It’s for a Robot store and what they do is franchise their characters to shops in order to attract more kids. I’m thinking of silver/gray on all pages with a touch of color from the character that is being featured. I wish I could go all out on the animation but I’m still struggling with my Flash skills and honestly, I just can’t find the time to learn new tricks. I’ll just have to make do with jquery scripts to enhance the user experience. Having said that, here are some robot-related web sites that I really like.
