Looks like a CGI cartoon but great nonetheless.

On Medical Alert

I always worry about my parents growing weak and having accidents when they’re at home. I’ve heard so many stories about old people falling and that they never recovered. But thanks to Medical Alert products, our elders will now have immediate access to help wherever they are. The BrickHouse Alert system consists of two parts: BrickHouse Alert Tele-Assist for the home and BrickHouse Alert Mobile GPS which is a mobile watch. Unlike other home and emergency response systems, you don’t need to press the panic button to alert someone. With the help of the fall detector, the system will sense what happened and will instantly contact a professional emergency dispatch operator. read more »

Unseen Protection

image These days, using a Hidden Camera inside the house is not as unusual as five years ago when people are worried about violating privacy. I’m saying this for parents who work outside the house and has no choice but leave their kids to their caretakers. And if you’ve seen the videos circulating the web of abusive nannies, you’d feel the same way too.

Hidden or spy cameras can be bought everywhere. I saw several undetectable cameras at the Brick House Security online shop ranging from $99 to $599. Most of them are used as a normal appliance in the house like digital clock, tissue box, floodlight, smoke detector, mailbox and key chain. Features also range from something as simple as video surveillance to video recorder, body heat detectors to motion detectors, wireless to night vision and even mobile ones that you can take anywhere.

On Online Tutor System

I love Math. So much that I used to tutor my brother when he needs some Algebra help. That experience showed me how hard to teach someone if you don’t have the right teaching skills. If you’re a student who is struggling with Math problems, I recommend this site called Tutorvista.com. Tutor Vista offers all kinds of tutoring packages that you can do from the comforts of your home. Connect with a tutor using your computer and you can get personalized one-on-one tutoring at a fraction of what learning centres usually cost.

Learn the answers to all your Algebra word problems in a fun and interactive way. If you will look at the photo below, you’ll see the virtual whiteboard workspace that you and your tutor can draw and write to as your tutoring session progresses.

If there’s one thing that my husband would love to receive this Christmas, it will be a Direct TV subscription. I can’t blame him because just like him, I’m a self-confessed TV addict. The only difference is that we don’t watch the same shows. I looked at the packages of Directv and was happy to note that they have over 31 channels for movies alone! The premere package boasts of 250 channels including 66 premium movie and sports channels (hollywood hits, classic, independent and original movies, original series, and many more.) read more »

Shopping Influence

My brother wouldn’t believe me when I told him that the price for a motorcycle jack online ranges $48.99 to $348.99. He’s been looking for one and the cheapest he can get is no less than $100. So now, thanks to yours truly, he’s getting addicted to online window shopping too. Soon he’ll be like me and buy all his gadgets and toys online. And why not? Coupon codes and discounts are dime a dozen it’s a crime not to take advantage of them all. Well, that’s if you listen to your shopaholic side talking.

Seriously though, Amazon, Buy.com and Ebay are now my dearest friends.

Power of Going Online

Someone’s enjoying too much Internet these days. So much that she has been hogging the laptop in the hallway but since she’s a relative, my husband couldn’t complain. I understand her because Internet makes everything convenient for you. Whether you’re looking for cheap airfare, free insurance quotes, real estate listings or researching, you can do all that without leaving your home. So now that my aunt-in-law has somehow conquered the Internet, I am gonna drop hints that she should consider getting herself a new laptop and a wireless connection so she can do all these in her own house. Not that we don’t want her visiting all the time but I’m sure my husband will be relieved to know that he can use his laptop when he wants to.

‘New’ Micro-blogging Tools

Had enough of twitter or simply want to try something new? See below for a list of online tools that can help you send updates about yourself via brief text messages, photos or audio clips. I got this from this post and got immediately excited. I am lazy when it comes to blogging that I prefer short messages for simple daily updates.

Dailybooth – Take and upload a photo of yourself everyday. Very nice especially for cam-addicts such as moi.

MySay – Different in such a way that you update by calling MySay and well, say how you are doing today. Then your friends and family can listen via phone, email or web.

Hictu – you need a webcam for this one. This is the twitter equivalent for vloggers. read more »

Dual Monitors For Me

If there’s one thing I’m excited about, it’s the Black Friday and Cyber Monday on Buy.com. I am looking to buy a 22″ LCD monitor for the longest time but never seem to have the budget to go ahead with the purchase. Thanks to Buy.com’s specials though, I now have several options to choose from that is just below $300.

I really hope I can find a way to ship this to my place so I can start creating the work station of my dreams.

Thank You for The Music

image I can’t live in a world without Mp3 players. How else can I enjoy my favorite songs when I’m running, traveling, waiting somewhere (at the mall maybe) or just hanging out in the park. Even when I’m in front of the computer, I’d still rather use my iPod than turn on my laptop’s music player. Same thing applies when I clean our room. I know I could always just use the stereo or CD player but I’d like to be able to bring my music with my anywhere I go.

The power of Internet will never cease to amaze me. Who would’ve thought that you can now pursue higher education from the comforts of your own home? There are plenty of online universities now that you can choose from. However, it’s the online Masters of Science in Information Security that has recently caught my attention. A friend of mine is looking into a similar program wherein he can learn more about keeping network security and systems secure. According to Lewis University website, the MS Information Security program will help you explore theories and practices IT security in the global scale. read more »

Customized Home Plans

Posted in home, technology, websites on June 11th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to comment

If you’ve been a frequent visitor of my other blogs, you’d know that my latest project is our dream house. We have found several lot properties already and even though we haven’t made any final offers yet, I’ve been consistently searching for home plans.

I came across HDA, Inc. (houseplansandmore.com) while doing my research. I had no idea there are so many pre-made plans that you can purchase online. From luxury home plans to cottage home plans, you can be sure that your dream home is just within reach. I like how you can customize the plans from the comforts of your own home. Modifications include changing foundation type, adding square footage, re-designing baths and bedrooms and many more. The best part is that as soon as you’re done customizing, you can receive a full quote in a matter of two days.

HDA Inc. offers Signature Series Home Plans that includes the general floor plan information and a list of materials needed to build the house of your choice. At first all I could see were four to six-bedroom types but after a few minutes of browsing, their plans range from houses with apartments inside to energy-efficient homes to atrium ranches with sunroom to apartment garages with office space. Which means no matter how much your budget for your future property is, you can find what you need with HDA, Inc.
